Perfect opportunity for Retired or Semi-Retired Orthopedic Surgeon to review Disability cases for the government. These are Disability claims that have been initially denied and then appealed. No court room time is required, only an occasional phone call.
Our client, a large US government organization has a need for medical experts to review medical records and state an opinion on the case facts to the judge who will be adjudicating the claim. The opinion, depending on the judge and jurisdiction, will be presented over the phone, in writing or in some cases, if locally available, in person. These disability hearings normally take 15-30 minutes on average, with your participation being limited to communicating your opinion on the medical facts. Judges use your opinion as one factor, amongst many, in deciding the outcome of the claim.
Things you are not doing: You are not testifying against another physician. You are not liable for the outcome of the case. You are not testifying on behalf of the government or the claimant – you are a 3rd party independent reviewer. You will not be asked to develop an opinion in an area of medicine you have not practiced.
You can do as few or as many cases as you want. Once you are in our system you can choose the number of cases you would like to review. Stipend will be $100 per case reviewed.
